God Loves Everybody

Hey Girls,

It's kinda a no brainer right? God loves everyone. We just accept that almost blindly but do we really believe it? I was thinking about this last night. We know God loves us and we're always told that he loves everyone equally. Yet, come on, you have to admit, do you ever find this hard to believe at times? Think about when you hear about someone who gets killed for believing in Jesus, or someone who devotes their life to charity work, or someone who gets a lot of visions, seems really 'spiritual'... doesn't it ever cross your mind that maybe these people have some inside track to God's favouritism? And then you may wonder, what about me? Just a regular girl.

Well, I wanted to know what the Bible has to say about this stuff. I hear a lot of talk from people and them telling me things about God but I often like to know the foundation for it. I know God reveals more details about himself directly to our hearts and minds, to other people too but the foundation for this stuff should always be found somewhere in the Bible.

Everyone knows John 3:16 "For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not parish but have eternal life." So this establish God loves everybody. John 15:21 says "Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them." And James 2: 1 warns against favouritism "My dear brothers and sisters, how can you claim to have faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ if you favour some people over others?" Okay, so with this basis in mind, we can plainly see that God loves everyone and does not chose favourites.

But yet maybe you're still thinking about the different choices people make, such as those who constantly try to please God, verses maybe those who only do it after a big catastrophe in their life or a moment of crisis. Well, the Bible is filled with examples on how Jesus took great compassion on and forgave sinners. And until we embrace the forgiveness of God, we are all unrighteous. So it doesn't matter when we believe in Jesus, just that we do. Everyone is on an equal playing field because of bring sinners. As believers in Jesus, we all have a share in him and so that makes us all equal again.

So even though we know God loves us all the same, I think it's truly important we know why we believe that and that we truly BELIEVE it! Sometimes we have a hard time accepting God's love. Other times, we accept it but we begin to feel self-righteous or entitled because of our good works and how faithful we are to God. Well that's no good either! Every good work comes from God, and is because of God, so honestly, we can only boast in God- not ourselves. As for feeling better than others because of our faithfulness to God- well, that's just a point of unfaithfulness right there- God wants humble servants.

Anyway, remember that you are loved today, and so is the person next to you, everyone is loved by God, no more, no less.
